Qualifying Period
The qualifying period will commence July 1 st 2006 and end February 28 th 2007.
ALL sanctioned ANKC Agility and Jumping trials held in this period are Qualifying Trials for Team Selection. The team shall be selected based on the following criteria.
Period of accumulation:
- Competitors are required to submit their combined 10 best results in Masters Agility and Masters Jumping events during that period.
- The competition period defined should provide in excess of 15 trials.
Classes to count towards points accumulation:
- Masters Agility & Masters Jumping only.
The National Teams event in June will be run on a Masters course with Masters rules (but with modifications to simplify scoring etc.) therefore only Masters classes qualifying cards can be included.
Method
- Scores will be awarded on the placing of the dog in each Masters class (Agility & Jumping). Placings down to 6 th place will score points.
- ONLY QUALIFYING SCORES TO COUNT
- Points will need to be accumulated to count towards an overall score.
- 10 points for 1 st place, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3 rd etc. down to 5 points for 6 th place.
- Places are awarded as per normal ANKC rules for placings.
- Applicants will be required to submit their combined ten (10) best scores for Masters Agility and Masters Jumping. (See note 2)
- Copies of qualifying cards marked with the placings, and a sheet detailing the scores as per sample below are be submitted to the Agility Committee by the close of business Wednesday 28th of February 2007.
- In the event of tied overall scores, placings will be resolved based on count-back of Qualifying rounds, then Agility competition results, followed by Jumping competition results if required.
- Note 1: Both Agility and Jumping results are required as the competition for the Teams event will include an Agility round and a Jumping round, therefore a good level of competency in both will be required as the Team will be required to run both rounds .
- Note 2: A maximum of 6 Masters Agility and 4 Masters Jumping scores will be counted. Competitors with more than 10 scores should discard their worst results. Persons with less than 10 scores are still encouraged to submit their results.
- The 6 highest scoring dogs will be offered the opportunity to represent WA.
- Should a query result from the submissions, the applicant will be required to clarify the query to the satisfaction of the committee.
- Illegible entries will not be accepted.
Number of dogs selected:
- The six highest scoring dogs at the end of the period will be eligible for representing WA in the Teams event.
- 6 dogs will be required to form the team, although only 5 will run each day.
- The final rules for the Team Competition to be held in May 2007 are yet to be officially released however when they are available they can be viewed on the Official website: http://www.agilitysa.com
Obligation:
- The selected team members will be expected to represent WA to the best of their ability and without bias.
- In the case where a dog or handler is unable to compete in the team, they would be expected to forgo their place in the team for the next available highest scoring member.
- Members participating in the team selection accept that the decision of CAWA will be final and no action will be taken to change the decision.
- Those members selected for the team, when accepting the offer to join the team, do so on the understanding that neither CAWA nor any of its members are held responsible for any costs, losses or injuries that would not normally be covered during normal competition.
- The successful team will be expected to organize a ‘Team Captain’ to represent and speak for them at team meetings/briefings etc and to hold regular team training sessions under the supervision of a Coach or Trainer.
- In order to make this work efficiently, all participating clubs and judges are requested to take note of the above requirements and assist by marking Qualifying Cards, Judge’s score sheets, club score sheets and catalogues to show at least the first 6 QUALIFYING places in each event during the counting period.
Please note: All travel and related expenses are the responsibility of thecompetitor.
